Antibiotics
An antibiotic is a type of antimicrobial substance active against bacteria. It is the most important type of antibacterial agent for fighting bacterial infections, and antibiotic medications are widely used in the treatment and prevention of such infections. They may either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria.
Gentamicin (10 mg/mL)
Gentamicin sulfate is a water-soluble antibiotic drug originally purified from the fungus Micromonospora purpurea. Gentamicin acts by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome leading to inhibition protein synthesis and death in susceptible bacteria. Gibco™ Gentamicin is effective against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and is used for the prevention of bacterial contamination on cell cultures. The recommended working concentration ranges from 0.5 to 50 µg/ml. We offer a variety of antibiotics and antimycotics for cell culture applications.
